Which Console Brought Us The Most Innovation? (Nintendo, Sega, Xbox)

Subscribe: bit.ly/Sub_to_TheGamer
Which Console actually brought us the most innovation? Every console claims to be the future at launch, and now that we are at a certain point in the future with respect to the 2010s, the 2000s, and the 90s, 80s, and 70s, we are going to ask and answer the question: who was right?
Well, in a way, they all did. You can’t have the successes without the failures, but because we are bound by the construct of time, our video must be eight minutes and not eight hours like some Ken Burns documentary. In that time we will talk about seven consoles that brought us the furthest into the gaming future we’ve come to know thanks to the risks they took, and the tech they created which we now kind of take for granted. From the first ever home console to the first ever console with interchangeable games to online gaming and beyond, we here at The Gamer often sit on rocks like The Thinker and wonder what brought us here and why.
We also feel obliged to teach you, and ourselves, the history of video games, so that...we don’t repeat it we guess? Just kidding! But in all seriousness, it’s to know where we came from so we can have an idea where we’re going. Because if history has taught us something, it’s that it repeats itself, over and over, until the end of time, for no reason.

The original Xbox and the Xbox 360...The entire gaming industry is the way it is right now because of the original Xbox and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 is the greatest console and the most important to modern gaming ever created. The Xbox Series X feels like it has a shot at being the 360 on steroids as it is currently the most advanced console ever created.

The Dreamcast was more important in Europe and Oceania because it was the first console with 60hz options which you activated through RF the problem was that it didn't run great so Sony used TVs which could use it but most of the games didn't use this feature which is what Microsoft and Nintendo focused on mith most of the games having 60hz Capabilities which the Wii struggled on with virtual console which Microsoft and Sony used for all of their games and with the rise of digital TVs it ain't a problem. That's why the Dreamcast was and still is the most important video game console ever in my opinion and in Europe/Oceania

Nice to see the Odyssey and the Channel F here. Even so, I would've been disappointed had there been no SEGA consoles on this list. After all, SEGA put a lot of innovation in many of their consoles.

Or, the Original Xbox. The first console with true online gaming, had a store (very limited), and had a built in hard drive. Also the power on that thing is insane for the day.

As I cannot get my hands on a PS5, I am playing games on retro consoles. I one realisation is that gameplay is far more important than graphics. Dungeon Master on the Amiga A500 is brilliant.
