Atari needs to start pushing out some games. Maybe some jaguar games. And if system horsepower is a problem they need to pull a nintendo switch. 1st party exclusives and low rez versions of modern games.

PC games are not designed for a "frozen in time" system. In 6 months you will NOT be able to play PC games. So buy a Raspberry Pi, save hundreds of dollars and be happy. P.S. Buy a Xbox series S from the money you saved.

You don't need PC mode for Netflix and stuff. Any streaming service on Chrome is already available on the VCS because it has Chrome. In fact, all the streaming apps you see are just Chrome shortcuts.

There is another video on this thing where some geek(not meant in a bad way) tests and disassembles this console. You could tell he was surprised and tried his hardest not to look impressed. It was cool because the guts of it actually have some easter eggs.

You can get Atari games in a bunch of consoles, and there's the Flashback for maybe 50 bucks. There's no way that this is their main draw. The main reason to get it is for the PC functionality, but it's not that powerful.

I have to admit I thought it was a scam for a long time. Now that it's in some backers hands I believe the price is too high and they need more games. Some of the games they havd exclusive now is nice but not worth that price. $120 cheaper would be a good price point.

the $400 tag is only if you want it with both controllers, otherwise it's less than $300, you can use just about any controller you want if you already own other USB controllers. also keep in mind, you'll own the digital games you purchase and will also be allowed to resell digital games if you want to.

No. You shouldn't. You can get a calculator to emulate this, no matter how crappy your pc or phone is, it will run. Just get a ROM and emulator.

if you want a atari 2600 in 2021, just buy one of the thousends atari flashback models. You get the better resolution, it comes with over 120 games and you can stick an sd card in it, but most importantly it cost like 50 $

I've had mine for a while now. The recent software update made the controllers work a lot better, but I've still had some trouble with them being overly touchy on classic games. Only new one I've tried is the Missile Command Remix, which only works with the "modern controller". There's an iOS app to act as a "remote" for it, which is nice (and necessary before the controllers would pair reliably) and makes the apps like Chrom a lot more usable.

The real question is can I even buy an Atari? At the moment it's easier to buy a PS5 than the Atari as there is no stock of the Atari what's so ever.

I actually really like the $400 price i do think the atari vcs is worth it in my honest opinion and atari did say that they are listening to feedback of everyone's difference honest opinion on the atari vcs they are gonna improve on it later on in the future things just take time and atari did say this is just the beginning i think good things happen when we are patient

I preordered one in August 2020 and still haven’t gotten it. So my advice is to hold off until they actually get some in stock. They are not reliable at all with shipping times.

i like this console. i dont have a high end pc. i've never played a console older than the original xbox, i'd say its worth it, cheeper than the ps5 and xbox series x.

They NEED to lower the price of this console. It would be worth it if it was $100 or even $150 but I don't want to spend nearly the amount I spent on my very lucky purchase of the PS5 I currently own.

I love retro games, but like was said in this video, I'm not sure $400 is worth it. I have an old AV joystick I can use to play Mappy, Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, Pole Position, and Galaga, so I can pretty much get my fix off of that. I already shelled out $300 for the Nintendo Switch, so even more for a console that's main selling point is playing a set-in-stone selection of games is just a bit much. One could save up just a bit more and get one of the other new-gen consoles, or even a vr headset, so that price is just all too steep for me. Of course, the pre-order price is at $400, so I expect another year or two will whittle that down to something more reasonable on top of having many of the kinks I'm sure it will have ironed out. Another problem I see is the joystick. There were plenty of varieties of classic control schemes on old arcade consoles and the like. I'd love to see the original Street Fighter's pressure controlled 2 button set up, or a six button scheme controller that a lot of older games used. Currently, this just seems like a pretty basic set up, but has a lot of potential. For now, I'll be watching from the sidelines to see where this goes.
